Fireside chat

The founder’s mentality with Ethan Tandowsky

17/june/2025
Prins Hendriksoord, Den Dolder
16:00 – 22:00

Fireside chats

During the so-called ‘Fireside chats’ we will discuss specific and contemporary topics with a small group from different disciplines. These discussions will take place in a confidential and homely atmosphere, where the Chatham House Rules apply.

The founder’s mentality

Once in a while, we come back within our Community to the founder’s mentality subject. This subject is based on the book of Chris Zook of Bain which describes how organisations ,while growing, need professionalisation. But also how this after a while can and often leads to less entrepreneurship and growth. Your best people are free spirits and leave the company because they do not like control, the people that you hire to bring about the professionalisation you need in the phase you are in, are slower in decision making because of their focus on process and on avoiding risk. How do you find the right balance? You can be part of this problem or gatekeeper to it as a leader. What personal tendencies of yours as a leader help and which hinder? What entrepreneurship, if any, has to necessarily be given up in new phases of growth? What type of people no longer fit, if any? How do you let your entrepreneurial DNA evolve as a consequence? Ethan Tandowsky, CFO Ayden, shares his view and experience and afterwards we discus eachother’s journey’s.
