Fireside chats
During the so-called ‘Fireside chats’ we will discuss specific and contemporary topics with a small group from different disciplines. These discussions will take place in a confidential and homely atmosphere, where the Chatham House Rules apply.
Navigating Uncertainty
During this roundtable we will discuss how we steer in the dark. We do not know if trade wars will decline in the future or intensify, if geopolitical stability will increase or decrease, or if sustainability will return to the forefront. At the same time, Europe is trying to balance competitiveness with sustainability and it is uncertain whether this balance can be maintained without impacting our prosperity. This is all happening while new black swans may appear, as we have seen several in recent years.
You have to make decisions amid this uncertainty. What are the biggest things you do not know at the moment? How bold are you? Or do you try to sit out the storm and plan to pick up your competitors’ pieces afterwards? What preparations do you have to make now to be able to do this? How are you adapting your tools to look ahead? How is the role of your finance function changing?
Barbara Geelen, CFO of Fugro, will share her experiences, choices and developments to kick off this roundtable. Afterwards we will have a discussion together.
