Fireside chat

Making you next moves with Gopal Ratnam, global CIO Philips

June 9th 2026
Okura Hotel, Amsterdam
16:00 – 22:00

Fireside chats

During the so-called ‘Fireside chats’ we will discuss specific and contemporary topics with a small group from different disciplines. These discussions will take place in a confidential and homely atmosphere, where the Chatham House Rules apply.

Making you next moves with Gopalratnam, global CIO Philips

Every era experiences significant change, but it seems we are now witnessing a change of an era. We are living through profound geopolitical and economic turmoil, driven by underlying tectonic shifts, as well as major technological developments, particularly in agentic AI. This presents a unique moment for a strategic discussion with your peers. To frame this, we will use the metaphor of a chess game.

What are your next moves, and what is the thinking behind them? How are you transforming your (technological) organization to prepare for the years ahead? How can technology and agentic AI help organizations become more adaptive and resilient?

To kick off this discussion, we are joined by a very special and experienced guest: Philips CIO Gopalratnam. Gopal has served as Global CIO at Philips for the past six years, following a distinguished career at companies including Cisco and GE. He will share his perspective on the “chess game” that organizations and CIOs must play, and offer leadership lessons learned over the years. One of the questions we will explore with him is when a leader should remain calm and when to accelerate.

Based on his insights, we will engage in a lively discussion, sharing views and experiences with one another.
